5 ways to build more business confidence

Hey friend. We need to talk about confidence.

I know what it feels like to be up at 6 am one day, caffeinated and ready to tackle all the business things, to feeling confused, unmotivated, and ready to throw in the towel the next.

Trust me, I’ve been there (especially in those early days!)

During the darker seasons, when it feels like you keep getting knocked down over and over, it can be really tough to show up with confidence in your business.

It’s especially tough if you run a personal brand or expertise business, where confidence in yourself and your skills is the bread and butter of your biz.

But the reality of being a business owner is that it’s not always easy. Curveballs are constantly being thrown your way. Sometimes you hit them out of the park. Other times you struggle to even swing. But most of the time, you’re just trying to stay afloat.

If you aren't careful, the dark seasons can take over - and steal your focus, energy, and confidence in the process. AND when that happens, your business can dry up pretty quickly.

Whether your current season looks more like blue skies or Spring thunderstorms, I want to share with you the top 5 strategies that have helped me to successfully navigate my business through even the most difficult times.

1. Focus on your why.

Remember when you first launched your business? That fiery passion for your vision? That “I’m going to do so many awesome things with this brand” feeling?

Grab a match, friend. It’s time to reignite your vision!

When we lose our confidence, we also lose sight of why we started our business in the first place. Our WHY is the thing that drives us and shows us which direction to move in, even when we feel like quitting.

The first step to recovery?

Get out of your head. Take a step back, breathe deep, and return to the reason you created your biz. You’ll be shocked at how much easier it is to show up confidently when you know why you’re showing up.

2. Get out of the weeds.

When things are hard, it’s easy to sweat the small stuff. That’s why it can be so helpful to have someone else show you the big picture.

Invest in a coach who can give you that bird’s eye view of your business.

With an expert on your side, you can re-focus on your vision and prioritize the next steps to get you there. Instead of running in circles, you’ll discover where the pain points in your business are and exactly what you can do to solve them.

There is ZERO shame in asking for help, in fact, I personally believe that hiring a coach is one of the key ingredients to business growth and success!

Whether you invest in on-going monthly business support or just a one time in-depth strategy session getting an outside opinion could be just the thing that you need to pull you out of the weeds and back to your most confident self.

3. Develop a solid brand strategy.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again (and probably again after that). You can’t have a successful brand without a strategy

This is especially true when you’re facing a rainy season in your business. You’re already struggling to get the engine running, only to realize you have no GPS to get you where you want to go.

By establishing a strong brand strategy, you’ll have a clear and prioritized plan for your business. You’ll know exactly what to focus on to reach your ideal client, convert more sales, and truly move the needle in your business.

The best part? With clarity comes confidence (and lots of it).

At Outlaw Creative, brand strategy is our superpower. We even have an 8-week branding boot camp that helps creative entrepreneurs (like YOU!) give their existing brands a powerful and profitable strategy boost.

4. Break up your goals.

Okay, okay. I know you want to start a podcast, redesign your website, AND build out a new course (all at the same time). But sometimes the biggest confidence killer is trying to do too much too fast.

Instead, break your goals into smaller pieces. I personally love to split my goals into quarters, giving me three full months to hone in on one project. This takes away the stress, pressure, and multi-task mayhem that comes with juggling all the things

The more focused you are on one primary goal, the more confident you’ll be in creating it and introducing it to the world.

5. Take aligned action.

There’s a lot of digital marketing clutter out there. The internet is constantly telling creative entrepreneurs that they need to do everything a certain way (or, more bluntly, that they’re doing everything the wrong way).

Seriously, how many Facebook ads have told you that to build a thriving brand you need to master IG reels, launch a pod, or provide a specific type of offering? *Mmhmm.. I feel you*

Here’s the truth: contrary to inspirational quotes, action does not build confidence. Only aligned-action does.

Build a business that is aligned with YOU and your vision. Take action on the things that feel RIGHT in relation to your biz. And most of all, show up in a way that feels TRUE and most natural to you. That’s where real confidence comes from.
